THE DAY WHEN IT ALL HAPPENS IN KMART !

This is what I was learning this week WALT add detail to support the mood/feeling we are trying to create.

To be successful I will:

• Choose ideas that we can add more information for our reader (feeling, thoughts, what we saw)
• Add interesting adjectives and verbs
• Use language features such as hyperbole, rhetorical questions, simile, metaphor, repetition

.

I think I was successful because I had repetition and similes in my writing.

I still need to learn to make short sentences that make sense instead of going on and on about what happened.

T HE DAY WHEN IT ALL HAPPENS IN KMART !

This is a mysterious story and it can go on and on until you get to the best parts where it get's really good and really bad . Warning this story recommends ages 10 - 14 and it has violence that may disturb the peace of the little kids up to 5 years. So sit down and have some popcorn and a drink of L&P and enjoy reading the story.

On a nice sunny day my parents, my brothers and I went to whangarei in the holidays and here is what happened.

“Can we go to the Arthurs emporium mum” asked Chace “ok” mum said. So we were driving to the Arthurs emporium and when we arrived we got out of the car I wanted to buy something but I didn’t know what it was so I kept thinking while I was walking around looking at everything that was in there. Later on my mum wanted to stay there for a little bit so Chace walked around until he saw some kites it was a shape as a jet. My mum was looking for some pieces for here humpty dumpty that she wanted to make, I went bored because the shop was lame only Chace and my mum liked it. I wasn’t sure if Hilton or my dad liked it.

I asked my dad, ”Dad, can we go now ? This is boring. I want to go to Kmart. ” he said ”just wait for your mother” so I was wondering around like a sloth. My arms were swinging backwards and forwards just like a swing. Next minute I continued to look around at things while my mum was grabbing pieces for her humpty dumpty that she was going to make. After that we all hopped in the car I moaned “FINALLY LET’S Go !” I was so sick and tired of my brothers because they kept on talking  and talking and talking and talking. That’s when I felt really angry at them because I didn’t want to listen to those two I said “SHUSH!” they both stopped straight away. So we drove to Kmart I said “everytime we come in the doorway I always smell pizza but there is no pizza in here”. I really wished that there were actually real pizza in there, “Now that would be cool right”.

Afterwards we were searching for something to buy so Chace and I went to where the sports equipment was, while Hilton was with mum and dad. Chace and I were walking around in circles until we lost the others then we started to wonder where they were so we went around in the shop looking for them.

There was no sign of them so Chace and I split up and went around the shop until we found each other. Finally we saw Hilton coming towards us and  asked “we were looking for you guys”, “we were looking for you guys too”. That day wasn’t what I was expecting but I did have fun especially when Chace and I were running around in kmart that was cool actually because we were looking for them but we didn’t find them until we were leaving. The end of the story of darkness.

This week I have been  learning to expand my reading vocabulary by working with a buddy to find word meanings.

Plastic bags are the worst things in the world !

I am learning to use language features of persuasive writing. I know I can write emotions and some rhetorical questions because I used some in my persuasive writing that I wrote here.

My next step is to put more rhetorical questions and emotions in my persuasive writing and also to make it more interesting for my readers so they are interested in my writing.

To be successful I will:

Use rhetorical questions to make my writing interesting
Use emotive language (words about feelings/emotions)

Plastic Bags

I think we should keep plastic bags and polystyrene out of New Zealand.

First reason you should have a look at plastic you think that plastic is good but it is the worst because it is made from petroleum.Petroleum is petrol that is made from a factory. You can’t let it fly away to your pets because it can cause danger towards animals by eating it wouldn’t that be heartbreaking. Also if you drink petroleum you will die, the petroleum is from underground too.

Second reason if you put any food in with polystyrene the bad stuff from it will go right into the food and when you eat it you will die. Do you want that to happen to you ? For an example, you could drop some chips in and you pick it up and eat it then all of the chemicals will already went into the chips you’ll never know if it is going in because you can’t see it can you.

Another reason is that the worst one you won’t believe is polystyrene, polystyrene is a dreadful chemical that can kill people and animals. You have a look when you open boxes or something there could be polystyrene in their.They look like little round white balls that you might just find in the boxes that you have. Do you know what these little balls can do to you ? .

In summary, I think we should keep plastic bags and polystyrene out of New Zealand.

Do you know what integers are well this is where you are going to find it

I was learning to know what integers are and to learn about positive and negative numbers. What I found hard was I didn't know what it mean't and what it was actually about. Then I got it and made myself a presentation about integers. It is short too.

Do you like plastic or polystyrene because if you do you've made a bad choice

I was learning to plan for writing using brainstorming, discussion and lists.

what I found easy is I was researching the words that I didn't know and getting started with help from my teacher Whaea Lana.

Why do we throw rubbish in the landfill instead of recycling it ?

I was learning to group similar ideas into paragraphs and to check if my sentences make sense.

Do you agree or disagree with all of this rubbish I mean there is so much around now, we need to do something about this. I believe that people need to stop throwing all of their rubbish in the landfill because that is outrageous !

For an example, say if you went to go throw your bags of rubbish in the landfill you could be making a bad choice because it can kill people by a chemical called methane. Methane is the bad gas that comes from the rubbish under ground.

Another reason why people need to stop this pollution because trees and plants will start to die and people will get sick because the gas that comes from the ground up into the air.

Added to this you can use plastic bottles or plastic containers to make clothing or other products which can be easily made but the only problem is it can burn faster if it is made from that material.

My question is why do people throw their rubbish in the landfill ? and did you know that there are 10 countries that produce rubbish ?

In summary, I think we should all disagree with all of this rubbish going to the landfill, there is so much around now, we need to do something.   Make sure you don’t throw all of your rubbish in the landfill.
